Floe Edge Tours First week of June Spring break up on Great Slave Lake represents the start to "real" summer for Yellowknifers.  Travel to the edge of the ice to hear the melodic tinkling of candles and brash ice.  This natural phenomenon represents a massive amount of energy transfer and it's a cool way to witness the power of the seasons.

Stop on the houseboat on the way back for tea and a tour inside.

Solstice Party June 21

Celebrate the longest day of the year on Great Slave Lake.  Watch the sun set from across Yellowknife Bay on Solstice Island.  Includes a homemade treat and hot drinks.  View bird life and learn some of the history of the North with your guide.  Limited to 10 guests. $70
 
Spring Fishing Camp

Feathers and Fur at the Wildcat Café June 30

Set at the historic Wildcat Café, local author and educator Mindy Willett provides an informative and entertaining presentation of the diversity of aboriginal groups across the North through a display of traditional clothing. Shoreline Hike

A fun half-day hike on the shoreline of Great Slave Lake.  We will travel by boat to jump off and hike in two different areas, one island hike and one mainland hike.  Includes a snack. $85
Old Fort Providence
Naturalist Tour

Travel by boat to the site of Old Fort Providence.  This is the location where Franklin & Back first met with Chief Akaitcho in 1820 and asked him for help to find the Northwest Passage.  Little remains at the site but we will see the evidence showing the settlement and learn more about this fascinating and famous piece of Canadian history.  We will also see the abundant bird and plant life along Great Slave Lake.

Includes boat transportation, guide, and a hot lunch.

"We seek a northwest passage."

Adventure to the High Arctic to Cambridge Bay, a small community on the Northwest Passage.  This community is comprised of 90% Inuit and blends tradition with modern life.   Here we will see the Arctic Ocean and Northwest Passage, go on a day hike to look for musk-oxen, and try our luck at fishing for Arctic Char.

This tour is moderate difficulty level.  The hikes will not be too strenuous but you should be able to walk up to 10km per day over uneven terrain without difficulty to participate in this tour.

Includes return airfare from Yellowknife to Cambridge Bay, shared accommodations, breakfast daily, 2 lunches, and a tour leader.

Given the location, comprehensive travel medical insurance is mandatory for all participants on this trip

The shore of Great Slave Lake is dominated by striking granite outcrops and hardy trees and plants.  We will spend this day on the lake hiking around different areas of the shoreline with an experienced naturalist guide.   $125
