Shoreline Hike

Old Fort Providence

Travel by boat to the site of Old
Fort Providence. This is the location where Franklin &
Back first met with Chief Akaitcho in 1820 and asked him for
help to find the Northwest Passage. Little remains at the
site but we will see the evidence showing the settlement and
learn more about this fascinating and famous piece of Canadian
history. We will also see the abundant bird and plant life
along Great Slave Lake.

The High Arctic |

"We seek a northwest passage."
Adventure to the High Arctic to
Cambridge Bay, a small community on the Northwest Passage.
This community is comprised of 90% Inuit and blends tradition
with modern life. Here we will see the Arctic Ocean
and Northwest Passage, go on a day hike to look for musk-oxen,
and try our luck at fishing for Arctic Char.
This tour is moderate
difficulty level. The hikes will not be too strenuous but
you should be able to walk up to 10km per day over uneven
terrain without difficulty to participate in this tour.
Includes return airfare from
Yellowknife to Cambridge Bay, shared accommodations, breakfast
daily, 2 lunches, and a tour leader.
Given the location,
comprehensive travel medical insurance is mandatory for all
